On Wednesday we taught English and we did old Croatian batches of indexing. I thought learning a language was hard, and it is, but then I had to learn to read it from 200 years ago. Elder Hixon is good at it because he has been out for a while and knows the language better but it is still a bit weird for him. It is pretty much Croatian mixed with Slovene, mixed with english spellings of Croatian words. Its tough but we have had pretty good key indicators this week for less livings!
On Thursday was Thanksgiving. Lowis and his new greenie showed up in the morning and we all went and ate at the new senior couple's place. The Taylors are really good and I'm looking forward to working with them. Elder Lowis and I discussed one day that cool senior couples are the ones that keep the elders sane because they're the only other Americans! I can definitely say that this Thanksgiving, sitting here in Montenegro, that I was thankful to be an American...
On Friday Elders Lowis and Hixon were both sick. Instead of crippling 2 companionships, we had an exchange. I took the greenie, Elder Poore, contacting for the afternoon while the others took a nap and tried to feel better. The exchange went super well. I was pumped because it would make me learn better and force me to listen hard and understand, and I knew that I would probably look like an idiot a bit but I was grateful for the learning experience. However, it went better than that. It really surprised me to see how much I've learned when I was the one that had to do the talking. I don't know if it was just the confidence of being the leader or the spirit or a mix (probably, in my opinion), but I wasn't forced to understand, I just understood everything and was able to reply. It was a super cool experience for me. And on top of that, we got 3 new investigators. The gift of tongues is real people!
Saturday was another super rainy day. It literally poured the whole day. We cleaned the church like every week, then each companionship went in a different room and we made transfer goals. So we still did something that needed to be done which was good. And then we got soaked walking home.
Sunday was good as well. We did another exchange with me and elder Poore so that was fun and we had another really good contacting session. The only problem is that it was dark and Sunday night so there wasn't a multitude of people. But it was still good enough.
Its been a good week and a good start to the transfer. Me and Hixon decorated for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving because both of our families do that at home! His family sent him a tarp thing with a Christmas tree on it and some pipe cleaner candy canes and bows and snowflakes that they wrote notes on them so we hung the flakes from the ceiling and the other stuff from the tree and we have a thing of lights too! So we are in the mood too even across the world! I love you all and hope you have a great week!
